Our Commitment to You and the Health & Safety of Our Community
Dear Movement Community,
We are pleased to announce that we are open to in-person appointments and ALL of our teachers are fully vaccinated! While we are excited to see you in-person, we want to be as cautious as possible. Please know we take your health and our instructors' health in the highest regard. If you are ready to return to in-person lessons, please let us know! We've truly missed each and every one of you.
Since we know this is a time where we all must personally make our own decisions, we are also teaching virtual private lessons and virtual group classes. For those who are not quite ready to return, we encourage you to take advantage of our virtual offerings. While virtual lessons are undoubtedly not the same, they still provide a great way to safely move from the comfort of your home. It still surprises us how much we can see and do remotely!
To ensure the safest experience possible for our in-person appointments, we've made some changes to how we operate. As of September 1st, 2021 we are requiring that all in-person clients show proof of COVID vaccination. Additionally, you will find our updated studio guidelines for attending your sessions and a transparent view of the extra precautions we are taking during this time. Please read through this list carefully as these are our operating policies at Movement Design Lab for the foreseeable future.
If you have any questions at all, please let us know. We want you to feel comfortable in your decision to return to the studio. Similarly, if you have any advice or requests, we would love to hear it. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic carefully and will adjust as necessary.

New Studio Health Policies
Clients & Teachers
- All in-person clients must show proof of COVID19 vaccination. Similarly, rest assured, all of our teachers are vaccinated.
- Both teacher and client must wash hands prior to all appointments and following appointments. If either individual touches their face during a session they must wash their hands again.
- Masks are required in the studio at ALL times. If at all possible, surgical and N95 masks are preferred. We have purchased extra boxes of masks, please let us know if you need a mask.
- Anyone experiencing any COVID19 related symptoms are not allowed in the studio. Clients will not be charged for any sick cancellations.
- **Anyone who has had high-risk contact with a known COVID19 positive individual is not allowed in the studio for 5 days following exposure and must have a COVID19 negative test.
- The studio has been split into two separate sides and we are limiting the studio to two teachers per side.
- We are not performing hands-on cueing during this time unless both instructor and client have agreed that they both feel comfortable with it.
- We view this time as requiring a collaborative effort from our teachers & our clients. Please join us by doing your part in helping keep our community safe & healthy.
Equipment
- Socks & Towels: GYROTONIC® benches will be fully covered by a clean towel and washed after each use. GYROTONIC® handles will be fully covered by a set of clean socks and will be washed after each use. While we will provide these for you, we encourage you to bring your own - crew socks work exceptionally well, as do large bath towels.
- All wooden equipment surfaces have been covered with vinyl and will be wiped after each use. We also have rubber-palmed gloves to use on wooden equipment such as the GYROTONIC® Archway.
- Our Pilates fabric straps have been covered by vinyl and will be wiped after each use. You can also purchase your own Pilates straps & handles. These pieces can be purchased online here and here.
- The GYROTONIC® straps have proven to be a bit more difficult to cover. For a truly safe and sanitary experience for all clients, we are requiring each client to purchase their own fabric double looped straps. Ceriah is sewing straps for clients to purchase. Please ask your teacher for more details.
- As usual, all equipment will be wiped down after each use with cleaning spray & paper towels. The GYROTONIC® upholstery spray is a 70% alcohol based solution and the Pilates equipment will be cleaned with antibacterial/antiviral soap and water (two spray bottles will be used: one with the concentrated soap & water solution to be shaken every time prior to use and a second bottle of water to wipe off soap residue).
- All weights & props will be wiped down after each use.
- Fabric bolsters and fabric GYROKINESIS® mats will be covered with a clean towel. The towel will be washed after each use.
- Commonly touched surfaces such as door handles will be wiped in between clients and all high traffic surfaces will be wiped at the end of each work day.
